It is possible for you to plant flowers that will attract colorful butterflies to your garden. Though the garden itself is sure to please you can get more delight with beautiful butterflies, create a safe habitat for them and they will add color and vibrancy to your garden.
It may take a bit of research to find the plants that appeal to the butterflies but you can imagine that any hearty flowering plant will have some attraction.
Find out which plants and flowers will attract the most butterflies in your area by talking to a nursery owner visiting the local library or doing a Google search.
Provide a water dish of some kind. A birdbath can be attractive and helps to keep the butterflies up off the ground where they will be more visible.
One thing you will soon learn is that butterflies are attracted to blossoms that contain nectar as opposed to pollen. Butterflies are attracted to those flowers that honeysuckle, milkweed, summer lilac, Valerian, daisies, Purple Cone-flower, Yellow Sage, day lilies and lavender are a few plants that you could do well with. Remember to plan your garden with the tallest plants in the back or center as a backdrop.
